i have been back home for some time. a friend of mine works at best buy and sells a great deal of LG phones, etc.

he saw my LG "clinx" toothpaste and was blown away at the fact that korean corporations make so many diverse products.

what he wants is a care-package of as many LG products that have nothing to do with electronics/audio-visual as possible. i guess he's weird.

i can only think of toothpaste and hair products. i'm sure there's more, but i won't have a korean 7-11 in front of me for another few weeks.

any ideas?

Hmm you could try sending him an apartment.

If they hadn't split in two you could send him a whole convenience store too.. however a G25 won't cut it now I guess.

There's LG gum, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's candy as well.

Korean major companies are conglomerates on a massive scale, called chaebol, they are like family-run economies all inthemself, doing everything from highway construction to manufacturing to real estate to sales and consulting.

yeah, i'm told chaebol is pretty similar to the japanese zaibatsu... and that it's not only a huge conglomerate, but it also refers to the relationship between government and big business - that the gov't makes deals with big companies and makes life generally really good for them to do business.

the way it was described to me sorta reminded me of what we'd call "conflict of interest" in canada.

someone else probably knows more about this.
