				| Well, I've narrowed my city to work in search down to Daegu and Busan, I'm just wondering what the overall consensus is regarding these two cities and whether anyone would recommend one over the other?? | |

				| I would say neither is very good, but it sounds like you have very different criteria from me. | |

How so? Help a brother out, where would you suggest? I'm all ears, I'd like to get a well rounded view of all locations....I'm having a really tough time figuring out where to live/teach.....

If things are stressful, or frustrating at work, the city you live in will not console you.

True enough. Thanks for the links. Not really looking for a city to console me, just looking for the best place for me to be.

I've lived in Daegu for 1 & a half years. I think it was good times for sure!! Just make sure you get a good job, that should be your end goal, because your life will always be made better when that huge percentage of it (your job) you enjoy...

On the other hand, Busan is very nice. I quite liked the ocean, it is slightly bigger than Daegu. I think now I'd choose Busan over Daegu, although Daegu has its charm...

				| Here's the way to choose. Which do you prefer, mountains (Daegu) or the ocean (Busan)?
I haven't lived in Busan, but my guess is since it is a port city with a long history of trading with the outside world, you'll get a warmer reception than in Daegu (which is often regarded as one of the most conservative places in Korea).

Another advantage Busan has over Daegu is that the airport in Busan has flights going to far more international destinations than the airport in Daegu (which has a limited amount of flights to mainly Asian destinations). You can get flights going to almost anywhere from Busan including your home country. Very handy.

I completely agree with The Eye here. This is very good advice, but will take you a bit of research to find out. You can ask the community here on Dave's about people's experiences working for specific schools.

Sadly, schools with traditional Korean managers follow a 1950's style "I'm the boss, shut-up and do your job." form of managment. They expect you to understand and conform to traditional Korean culture without making much effort to understand yours.

				| The one advantage of Daegu over Busan is Daegu is closer to Seoul. Both cities are in the conservative part of the country. Busan does seem to have more areas where you can go to escape all that though.
If you get culture shock down there, it's going to be a lot worse than if you're in Seoul.
