Does anyone know if the Korean government keeps copies of teaching contracts???
I taught in Korea 2002-2003 and lost my contract since then. Now, I need it to prove I taught there 25 hours a week for a full calendar year to bump up my pay for previous teaching experience.
I worked at Bupyong Wonderland which, not surprisingly is shut down.
Any ideas out there???
Thanks a million!

There MAY be a copy in your immigration file but YOU won't be able to access it.
=There SHOULD be an E2 visa and entry / exit stamp in your passport.
=You may have an old scan of your ARC somewhere? It will have your employer shown on the bottom face of the card.
=Immigration MAY if you ask nicely give a letter (more likely stamp a letter that you provide) that says you were here on an E2 visa and working for a particular hakwon.
=do you have contact information from any of your old Korean or foreign co-workers? They may be willing to give you a reference letter and/or confirm your previous employment. |

Just wondering if you've had any success with this? |

Hey, I work at Incheon Wonderland, which used to be Bupyeong Wonderland. Give me your name and stuff and I'll ask my boss if she has any of the old paperwork.

I once had an employer go out of their way to steal my copy of our employment contract. I too found that we can never gain access to the copy immigration keeps on file.
Fortunately in my experience the local Labor office will protect you from the worst abuses and personally I wouldn't get to hung up on not having a copy as too many employers tend to ignore them anyway.
Good Luck
