Do a search for both or just scan back a few weeks in the postings.

Best advice is:

Talk to MORE THAN ONE teacher at each prospective school that you are considering. Get their e-mail so you can talk to them without the boss watching over their shoulder and you can get the real low-down on the school branch you are considering.

If you do NOT do this then you are asking for a year from hell.

You have been forwarned.

YES is a difficult job because you work 8 hour days until 10 pm. You will be exhausted at the end of the day.

As a first job in Korea, Youndgo has some advantage, such as; honest people that will pay you and provide what they say, on the downside, the managment is brutal, they expect you to work as ahard as a korean, there is a lot of administrative work to be done, and extrqa marking, working for Youndgo means an additional 3 hrs a week of marking for Free that works out to 12 hrs a month plus report cards, so make it 15 hrs, now multyply by 12 thats 180 hrs unpaid, plus intensives which is 2 months of 9 am to 8 pm plus additonal projects. Now, if you work for Youndgo for 6 months they can't take away your airfare, then you can apply to other jobs, and earn a better pay for working at Youngdo since they have a good rep.

I agree with mirage about YES - the managament is terrible, but you will get paid on time. There is two hours of prep per day, meetings every week, plus extra activities, called professional development, but is really more like mindless busy work. This is on top of the time mairage was referring to. The other drawback of YES is CONSTANT SUPERVISION. The secretaries come and watch your classes at least once a month and there are cameras in each room, which can be on at anytime. You feel like you are constantly the subject of the inquisition or a witch hunt. Again, the pay at YES is good and students are great. But they expect a lot for their money. I don't know as much about CDI, but I do know they pay more (not much more) and are, as such, much busier than YES. Some CDI schools work six days. And there are no national holidays at CDI (unlike YES). They say CDI is the school for parents who do not love their kids, since there is rarely a day off, except weekends. As far as I know, there is no prep at CDI because it is already done, which is a definite positive. The other positive thing about CDI, like YES, is that you will get paid on time. Both schools have good reps, but you work your a$$ off in both places. And both have high level students, which should make your job more enjoyable.
