Hi,
What chance do I stand with Korean women? Ha.. Just kidding.. Seriously though, I'm arriving at Incheon airport in two weeks and just need a little advice for my first few days getting situated in Seoul. I'm arriving without a job lined up, so I'm planning on finding a yaegwon(sp?) to stay in for a month while I hit the pavement with resume in hand. I have Sherri yaegwon, I believe (I'd have to check my notes to be sure) in western seoul in mind, as recommended by Shawn Matthews(RIP) on his former blog.
So my questions would be:
1) What is the cheapest/ best way to find transport from the Airport to the yaegwon? I'd like to avoid a $100 cab ride if at all possible.
2) What do I say to the driver to get me to my destination?
3) Any other recommendations on how to spend my first couple of days in Seoul or on job hunting would be very appreciated.
Thanks for your consideration in reading my post.

There are buses at the airport to take you in town, but I suspect people need more information on where the Sherri is located. Give the address and maybe someone can tell you which bus to take.
As for the other things...
a) I'm guessing you will need computer access. Walk around the neighborhood with your eyes on the second story, looking for signs that say PC 뱅. Or just ask at the yeogwon for directions. Get a 'good' one. In my opinion, a good PC bahng is one that offers free coffee and the manager is friendly. No reason to patronize a place that isn't friendly when so many are friendly.
b) Take a trip around Seoul to start getting familiar with the city layout.
c) Start practicing the alphabet so you can begin to read menus etc. |
