There is also a report on it here:

A small Canadian university has sparked controversy with its recruitment drive by using posters and a website mocking US President George W Bush.
Lakehead University in northern Ontario set up www.yaleshmale.com in a bid to attract potential new students.
It shows a picture of Yale graduate Mr Bush with the caption: "Graduating from an Ivy League university doesn't necessarily mean you're smart."
The president of Lakehead's student union called the campaign "repugnant".
The university has issued posters bearing the black and white image of Mr Bush, who graduated from Yale in 1968, encouraging people to visit its campaign website.

Don't get me wrong, Canadians bashing America verges on pathetic if not completely crosses the line, but seriously... The OP sounds like one of those soccer players writhing on the ground after someone spit on him for hours looking for a foul.
So, Canadians (or anyone) can't bash Tom Cruise because he is American. People can't bash Issac Hayes or that racist jerk Mel either. They are bashing Bush, not America. Man, while not as bad as an anti-American Canadian, Americans who can't take any criticism are almost as pathetic. |

Yes, it's annoying seeing smug Canadians bashing Americans. But this was simply a humorous campus poster. Unlike some countries we might live or teach in ending with "orea", north Americans can take a joke about themselves and not get worked up, right?

What an ad!
I wonder what research they've done on their graduates-to-job placements to back up their suggestion? Aren't you at least curious if it's backed up or just hot air marketing? Successful graduate placement in the workfield is a big part of mature students attending (or returning to) university. It's a low blow though, I'll give you that - to Yale too, but they've had it coming for a while.
But I don't think a single American should be offended by it. It's not smearing the homeland victims of Bush's administration (who've suffered enough) just Yale, and to a lesser extent, Bush.
Any controversy this could stir, especially after Bush's performance record, just exposes certain individuals' closetted desires for an infallible religious figure as the leader of the US, or a moral infallibility of the universities with great names. I love the message it sends about universities and their fetishes over hallowed names riding the coattails of past achievements. It calls to mind issues about Carnegie Hall ever since they started renting it out to just anybody.
How ironic this tempest in a teapot should come to our attention on the anniversary of Katrina. Get some perspective, people. |

Most Americans don't give a rat's ass about the opinion of the rest of the world.
Maybe that's good. Maybe it isn't.
But it's true nonetheless. |

| I agree with the idea in the ad that Ivy League schools are severely overrated. Canadian politicians can buy their way through Canadian universities too; just ask any Albertan. |

Thats hilarious. Lakehead University is sure full of itself. I dont think Lakehead U really competes for Ivy league material.
The top students in the world dont say " I got into harvard and princeton, but I think i will go to Lakehead instead." hahaha |

| An Ivy league education and all its trappings aside, higher education is really what you make of it. When I asked a question of my professor in my non ivy league college, he didnt say "sorry, we cant answer that here, you will have to go to an Ivy league school to get an answer to that one." |

Canadians love Clinton, hate Bush. It's not about anti-Americanism, except perhaps for one narrow-minded subbranch.
What's more,.... the message is true: "Graduating from an Ivy League university doesn't necessarily mean you're smart." And Bush IS a clear example.
And making criticisms of authority figures is part of what university is supposed to be all about.
Brilliant campaign. |

| Hell, I hated Clinton when he was around, but now I can tell he got a raw deal by being put in front of the public and asked questions about sex. |

As an American still currently in America I say, "Bash away."
The man is a menace and should be censured by every intelligent person, no matter what their location.
Just remember this: A lot of Americans DO NOT approve of Bush. Don't hate us for what a few morons are doing. |

Canadians bash Bush? So what? Who doesn't bash Bush? He's a monkey!!! The most powerful nation on Earth elected a monkey for president. Twice!!
He has proved his stupidity on so many occasions that I have become an avid watcher of CNN. Just to listen to him speak and marvel at his stupidity and chuckle at his latest gaffe.
Does anyone really think George W. Bush is a smart and competent man? |

As I mentioned in my other post, yes. I think he's a helluva lot smarter than he leads on. It's a disarming tactic. It's easier to accept that he's an idiot who leads bad policy decisions than to confront the evil he represents. |
