|
|
Hello,
I recently got my F4 visa this summer as well as my Korean driver's license. Kudos to Dave's ESL cafe for providing me with all the info i needed to get them, all the way from finding the place to what was required to get it!!~ came in most handly *^^*
Now, I plan on living in Korea for about a year and would like to signup for a Korean credit card as well as my own cell phone. I've heard that holding an F4 visa provides with the same rights as a Korean native... hence easy to get a credit card and cell phone. Or do I still need someone (a korean native) to sponsor me?
Appreciate any help or suggestions~ |

I dont think your number will register.
Your most likely going to need to put down a deposit for the CC. Most banks in Korea will offer a secured credit card for foreigners.
You will probably need a korean to help out with the phone. If not; you will likely need a deposit or buy a pay as you go celly. |

Please check my posts about cellphones within this same General Discussion forum.
F4 but still you need a credit card or bank account in your name to set up direct billing. |

cell phone - just go to any cell phone store, they will let you get a regular korean account. I got mine with SK telecom. They went through a little binder filled with information on how to activate the phone, but I was in and out in about 15 minutes.
credit card - I was originally declined for a shinhan card even though my direct deposit is with them. I got a samsung, LG, hyundai, amex card just by applying with the card representatives that came to my office. Ridiculously high credit limits without having to leave a deposit, and you have to pay entire balance at the end of the month. When applying you have to give them your rank/position in your company. Then they confirm that with human resources (they did in situation) and if all goes well you should have your card hand delivered in 2 weeks. -- But you cant do this if you work in a hogwan -- from what the credit card rep on the phone said, you have to have a certain income and not be a teacher in a hogwan no matter how much money you make. |

Pls read this info on purchasing a direct billed cell phone.
