I just saw this in the NYT:
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/27/arts/television/27heff.html?ex=1156824000&en=cf3ab425004bdc43&ei=5087%0A
I've seen the video for Canon Rock by twofun before and thought it was pretty cool. You can see it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjA5faZF1A8
I hadn't realized there was a controversy over the identity of the guitarist, who turns out to be 23-year-old Lim Jeong-Hyun. Favorite quote from the article:
When I asked Mr. Lim the reason he didnt show his face on his video, he wrote, Main purpose of my recording is to hear the others suggestions about my playing. He added, I think play is more significant than appearance. Therefore I want the others to focus on my fingering and sound. Furthermore I know Im not that handsome. |

Pachabel's Canon in D Major arranged for electric guitar and played by unknown virtuoso- beautiful, thanks for posting it.
And I guess that's "formerly unknown" now. |

Cheesy neo-classical metal is relatively popular in Korea. Lots of guys can play like that here. |

NIGEL: ...the numbers all go to eleven. Look...right across the board.
MARTY: Ahh...oh, I see....
NIGEL: Eleven...eleven...eleven....
MARTY: ...and most of these amps go up to ten....
NIGEL: Exactly.
MARTY: Does that mean it's...louder? Is it any louder?
NIGEL: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see,
most...most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten
here...all the way up...all the way up....
MARTY: Yeah....
NIGEL: ...all the way up. You're on ten on your guitar...where can you go
from there? Where?
MARTY: I don't know....
NIGEL: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is if we need that extra...push over
the cliff...you know what we do?
MARTY: Put it up to eleven.
NIGEL: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
MARTY: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top...
number...and make that a little louder?
NIGEL: ...these go to eleven. |
