I like to have music playing in the background of my classroom. Usually I listen to a few different internet radio stations.
But I'm a little bored with the stations I've been listening to lately.
I need something new to listen to. But I'd rather slit my wrists than listen to top 40 pop, which is what most of the stations i find are.
I prefer world music, funky jazz, reggae, etc.
Any suggestions for radio station on the net would be greatly appreciated.

Is a good station ... It's a Uni station that is very eclectic in what they play - so you'll never get bored hearing the same thing over and over.

Back home this station was my constant aural wallpaper.

NB:

They let everyone have a go on this station - so while you'll find some things new, you get some things just god awful - Difficult Listening, and Critical Mass are ones to avoid.

Create your own radio station. When you register, you'll need a US zip code. You can use this one: 60666.

Absolutely. I would have written that if you hadn't. It's a great way to hear your favorite music and get exposed to new artists that you'll probably like.

www.stonerrock.com if you're into the Melvins, Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age. The Black Sabbath meets Pink Floyd sort of sludge type stuff. For some reason it completely cracks my elementary students up, that and funk.

A friend recommended BBC Radio to me.
I have to say it's quite good. A lot of musical styles there.

California wine country radio Very Happy -- they say they play "roots" music (rock, blues, americana, jazz, reggae, folk, singer/songwriter type stuff). The commercials are pretty annoying, but when sitting at the computer it's easy enough to hit the mute button for a minute.

If you have Winamp, there are internet radio stations you can play with that program. Just click on the top left hand corner and go down the menu to where it says media library. If you don't have it, you can install it free, but I recommend getting the older version 5.08
