Everyone knows this already, but check out the main cnn.com homepage, and click on the chart for this article. Everywhere is red except for one state, Colorado, which is yellow (only about 16% obesity). Go Colorado. They must be doing something right there. It completely stands out.

I suspect it's because a lot of people who like playing outside move here--and there are so many awesome places to play outside in Colorado and the Rockies. Skiing, hiking, camping, kayaking etc etc etc. That = moving one's butt. 300+ days of sunshine a year. It's hard not to love this state!

Hawaii, Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire round off the top 5.

New England makes sense.. a health conscious lot.. more money there.. more education in such matters and many others, etc.

Hawaii makes sense in some ways.. although actually Hawaiians and Samoans themselves are fairly large people! But for running and triathalons and surfing and everything else probably keeps down the size of all the other ethnicities..

I bet a fun thing would be to go way back in time to where there was going to be an eclipse and tell the cave men, "If I have come to destroy you, may the sun be blotted out from the sky." Just then the eclipse would start, and they'd probably try to kill you or something, but then you could explain about the rotation of the moon and all, and everyone would get a good laugh.
