Anyone with young kids out there know how to go about finding childcare? I'm hoping to start work teaching soon, but cannot start looking for a job until I find someone to look after the baby while I work.

Do creches exist here?

I will be in the same boat you are in next year. There are children's houses (I can't type in Hangul on this computer! They're called 0h-lee-nee jeeps) at all the big apt. complexes- you see them on the first floor, and the windows are always covered in Mickey Mouse, etc. decals. However, my husband says a lot of those facilities don't accept babies because they are considered a liablilty due to SIDS. I asked him to look into it, because things might have changed. Dunno. Anyway, he said most people with babies just hire a babysitter- an ajumma or a halmonie. It's more expensive to hire a babysitter, though. I think what we might do is hire a southeastern Asian girl. At Hannam Supermarket, there is a bulletin board just inside the door, and there are always flyers from especially Philipinas who are looking for work as house cleaners and babysitters. If you still want more info., there was a thread awhile back in the off-topic forum on childcare (I think Homer started it, if my memory serves me right). I'll see if I can find a link~

*edit* I couldn't find the thread =( If you're looking for a babysitter, you could post an ad on www.worknplay.co.kr. I think I've seen southeastern Asian girls posting their resumes on that site, as well, if you don't want to post an ad. Also, you could go down to your local grocery store and post an ad on the bulletin board, but I would have it written in Hangul. I know someone who did this, and they had an incredible amount of responses. Disregard what I said about babysitters being more expensive- I just read about someone who hired a Philipina for 700,000 won/month, and I heard that's what oh-lee-nee jeeps cost....

*Another edit (I am avoiding work this am...)* I was just on www.englishspectrum.com and I saw an example of an ad, just FYI. The guy was in Afflujeong, so it was a pretty generous ad for a nanny. Anyway:
