Koreans unhappy at work
The workplace is not exactly heaven for a lot of us. But in a recent survey, Koreans were among the most stressed and unhappy on the job than employees in 15 other countries.... In particular, Koreans were highly unsatisfied with their bosses. Less than one-third of the Korean respondents answered yes to whether their managers give them a fair evaluation of their achievements -- the lowest percentage among 16 countries.... Also, only 31 percent of them said their bosses communicate well.... Reflecting discontent with their working environment was the showing that almost half of Korean people surveyed said they were considering a job move.
Survey: Koreans unhappy at work

Maybe its time Koreans shed a little confucianism. Of the sort that dictates the individual is nothing and all Koreans should sacrifice their lives and be subservient, to ensure korea overtakes japan (even if they have to trash their country to do it). |

Junior... your name becomes you.
Not that I disagree completely with your basic premise... but it lacks any sophistication. You see, a boss dumping on you due to confucianism is far less about group mentality than it is, "Dude, my paycheck is bigger, thus my *beep* is also. Thus spake I."
Now, my own little statement there is intentionally simplified and, frankly, silly. But I think you get the point. (Rather, I'm quite sure you do, but know you will say something quite ridiculous anyway.) |

Perhaps if Korean employees had a little more spine and only payed respect where it is deserved they'd be a bit happier and more satisfied. |

This seems a high number to me...I have yet to meet a Korean employer who communicates effectively. |

Geez, in the United States, about 75-80 percent of workers wish they were doing something else. |

Too bad the study was only done using uneducated laborers and fast food workers. |

I don't recall reading about that type of Confucianism. |

Nope, it wasn't, but perhaps you are one of the uneducated or burger flipping workers you mentioned. |
