the moment you put a load on it, even intermittently, the system automatically restarts without any prompt. Any ideas? I have been going through this thing one by one since late last night and nothing yet.

It's the brand new system that I told you guys about.

See, that's what I thought. Though..I have a 500WATT bad boy in here.

ALTHOUGH.......I have the power being drawn through an extension cord (my pc is far from the plug).

We'll see....

I wonder if they sell Back up batteries here. I would love to get a 10 or 15 minute one. That would definitely solve this problem.

A UPS isn't a solution, but a band-aid.

The only other possibility is heat. If the CPU heatsink isn't making solid contact with the CPU, or you used too much heatpaste, this is a real problem.

A 500-watt PSU is only as good as the maker. I have seen many a 400 watt crap out under much less load. Honestly, I have never seen more trash PSUs than in Korea. I go with the most expensive brand-name PSU I can find.

Eh....it can't be heat. My cpu has yet to exceed 35 degrees celcius (I have 2 different temp. readers on it. Too much heatpaste...hmmm.....what will that do (that's new to me). So I guess I'll have to take it apart and clean some off...

as for the psu, I may have to exchange mine out.....we'll see...

Heatpaste should be razor thin. It's only to fill microgrooves in the heatspreader on the CPU, so it should be applied sparingly. Too much causes thermal insulation, actuallyblocking contact with the heatsink. With your temps, it doesn't seem to be the issue. Besides power, I can't think of anything other than a fault with one of the components...a short or a bad resistor/capacitor on the mainboard, for example.

One problem I've seen with a lot of Korean power supplies is that while they may have a high wattage rating, they often have very low amperage on the main (12V) internal power cable. Check out the numbers written on the power supply and see if you have an issue. I can't remember exactly, but I think you want something like 17 or 18 amps on the main power line. You can probably do some googling and figure out what systems with your specs need in terms of amps to run properly.
