Bush says Israel defeated Hezbollah By DEB RIECHMANN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - President Bush said Monday that Israel defeated Hezbollah's guerrillas in the monthlong Mideast war and that the Islamic militants were to blame for the deaths of hundreds of Lebanese civilians.

Bush admonished Iran and Syria for backing Hezbollah, which captured two Israeli soldiers on July 12 igniting the conflict. Both sides claimed victory Monday, hours after a U.N.-brokered cease-fire took effect, while Bush said Israel prevailed.

"Hezbollah attacked Israel. Hezbollah started the crisis, and Hezbollah suffered a defeat in this crisis," the president said at the State Department after a day of meetings with his top defense, diplomatic and national security advisers.

The United States backed Israel in the war, and Bush made clear he was determined to help the Israelis in the post-fighting struggle of words about who wound up on top.

The president portrayed the war, which killed about 790 Lebanese and 155 Israelis, as part of a broader struggle between freedom and terrorism. He said one can only imagine how much more dangerous such a conflict would be if Iran possessed nuclear weapons.

Is this man not the biggest freaking idiot the planet has seen? Way to calm tensions there, Dumbya. And great job setting up the excuse to bomb/invade Iran. Ah, and a nice little threat of war has always done so well for you, and the puke party you represent, eh?

And you think hesbollah won't claim victory themselves, while hiding like rats behind their womenfolk in the towns until Israelis depart?

There is no clear victory for either side. Hezbollah will claim victory and strengthen itself in Lebanon.By giving the Lebanese Government and Hezbollah a breather via a ceasefire, Israel and the USA are prolonging the conflict. HB will grow stronger in lebanon now. I can't see them being disarmed or returning the hostages either.

The only way to calm the tensions would have been to crush hesbollah completely. Now, they've merely injured them them and are allowing them to bounce back even stronger.

Actually I can think of a few more people deserving of that title beginning with the current president of Iran. Be that as it may let's examine the rest of your post. Why exactly should Bush not support Israel? It's not exactly a secret that he does support them anyway. And when an ally is attacked, that's what allies do, support their ally and condem the attacks. Israel was a country attacked by a terrorist organization. Its allies naturally will support it. By your logic the countries that supported the U.S (a country) against AQ (a terrorist organization) when AQ attacked the U.S. on 9/11 must be freaking idiots as well.

Why exactly should it be Bush's job to calm tensions? And why exactly do you think that Bush's remarks will inflame passions more than they already are? Which do you think makes tensions rise higher, the remarks of some guy an ocean away or the deaths of hundreds of their comrades in arms?

And Bush is not going to start a war with Iran. He is bogged down in Iraq and has his hands full.

As for the rest of your post, typical inflamatory nonsense.

While Bush is by no means "the retard" so many people say he is, how can any reasonable person not help but be thoroughly disgusted by this shamelessly perverse stance?

Absolutely ... speechless.

Well it's fairly obvious that Bush doesn't actually write his own speeches and press statements. This statement was so pro-Israeli government because this statement (and all Bush's statements on the Middle East), was written by the Israeli lobby in Washington. Either that, or they just faxed it over from Tel Aviv and had Bush read it out verbatim.

Obviously, because if Bush doesn't support Hizzbullah then he is brainwashed by the Israeli propoganda that is so rampant in Washington. Rolling Eyes

Except for wholly agreeing with this assessment, I see no reason to participate in yet another round of BLT-Lawyer-sponsored screaming antiBush hysteria.

The drunken, bitter howler-monkey is apparently back.

I think Israel should give up their country for the sake of peace, and we should all become muslims, including bushie, out of respect for palestinians.

Would that make you happy EFL trainer and IGTG?
