|
|
Hello everyone! This is my first post here at Dave's. I'll be teaching an ESL class here in the States and have decided to use the Interchange series.
My questions are:
1) Can the complete series be bought as a whole (Teachers manual, student book, workbook, tapes, all levels) ? I'm looking for a discount. If so, where?
2) The rep. at Barnes and Noble said some of the Interchange books were out of print. Is that accurate information? Borders had similar information.
3) Is there a fourth edition in the works?
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Cato.

There's your answer. You'll just have to look at a bunch of stores and see if they still have them in stock.
There is another Korean method you can use. Get one of each book. Take them to a printer and get them to print up however many copies you need. It's illegal, er semi-illegal who are we kidding. You'll get away with it.
The book is no longer in print, so their copy-right rights pretty much went out the window from a Korean POV. |

I can honestly say hand on heart that Interchange is alive and well here in Korea. I have a colleague who teaches the Interchange book.
If you are coming to work in Seoul, I know you won't have any trouble at all finding it. Student book, teachers book, tapes etc.
I can only speak for Seoul, but there are also big book shops in Busan and Daegu so you could probably find them there too.

Pak Yu Man, thanks for the information. I'm leaning toward Amazon right now as they seem to have everything in stock. Anyway, your comments on copying had me laughing out loud I taught in Korea from 96 to 97, so I'm well aware of the blatant copyright infringement.
Ten years later, it seems nothing has really changed in Korea. I was part of the Koretta program which was called EPIK in later years. I could tell you stories that would curl your hair. Believe it or not, after all the ups and downs, I'd do it again. It's a heightened sense of living as someone commented. Anyway, thanks again for replying. Cato

ilovebdt, from the little reading I've done here, Interchange seems to get very high marks. I used the 1st edition back in 96 to teach the local elementary school teachers during the winter break. It was so easy to teach.
I remember an English bookstore a couple of blocks down from Kyobo bookstore (same side of the street). They had an excellent selection of books, including most of the popular Cambridge and Oxford texts. It may very well have been a Cambridge store.
Anyway, I'm located here in Houston, Texas. I was hoping there was an on-line source that offered bundled packages with discounts. Thanks for the information. Cato |

Have you contacted the publishers directly - OUP, right? They can often supply books direct via order form. |

Whoops, silly me. I thought you were coming back to Korea.
I would do as Hotpants says and hit up the publisher.
Good luck
