Your employer should take care of it. It doesn't take long and your booklet comes in the mail.

Yeah, but I wonder what would happen if someone who's fed up with waiting for their boss to do the paperwork went out and got one on their own.

Hmmm. That is a good question. I assume though, that there is some registration forms which only your boss can fill out. Now that I think about it, considering that the government already knows you are here on an E-2, it's more than a bit silly that your boss has to do any registration at all. The government should already set that up; it would seriously cut down on pension cheating as well.

Yes, that would be the logical thing to do. But, that would involve cooperation between government agencies, and possibly realocation of funding (which, apparently, none of them want).

Other than a confirmation of employment (so they can verify your salary to adjust the premium rate) there is NOTHING your boss has to fill out.

If he can't/won't sign you up you can certainly do it yourself.

It may piss him off because then they will know about him and then they will look for other employees and pension may come after him too.

My advice is... piss him off... get signed up...
