I�m thinking of teaching in korea and was was inquiring which area is best for a little of everything. Skiing, beach, hiking etc. Is Busan a good area?

Nah. You should try California if you want all that.

Well, how do you like where you are? I hear good things, but i'm not looking for too big of a city scene.

For the things you mention, Seoul would be just fine. You can take the subway or bus to any number of mountains with great hiking trails, and ski resorts and beaches can both be reached within two hours of Seoul. Plus this is the best area for so many other things, shopping, nightlife, restaurants, foreign food, job opportunities, etc.

If you want all of those things even closer and don't mind/prefer living in a smaller town, Sokcho might be what you're looking for since it's on the beach and 20 minutes away from Seoraksan (one of the best mountains in the country).

Korea is a small country with excellent transportation, so if your area doesn't have everything you want it's not too hard to get to what you want.
