Hello,
I am wondering if there is anyone living near Sogang University, EWHA, or Sinchon Station. Is it a nice place to live? How crowded is it? How is the job market? |

Sinchon would be a killer place to live. There are loads of birds there who speak English, so there's plenty of opportunity for an enriching cultural exchange - and of course if bodily fluids are exchanged also, all the better!
How crowded? With girls? Very. |

I do, and it's a great place to live. Any kind of restaurant you want is right there, good nightlife, it's a central location. The main streets are crowded, especially Shinchon-lo and the street leading to Yonsei. The nearby residential areas aren't bad. As for the job market, there are plenty of hogwons for both adults and kids, and universities if you're lucky enough to get a job at one of them.
I wasn't that lucky, but I like Shinchon so much that I now commute from here. |

Shinchon seems like a great place to live and I wish I lived there. |

I lived there for a year.. and LOVED it!
It is very crowded particularly around the subway station. But as far as housing goes, it doesn't take much to get away from the crowds. I lived between Shinchon & Ehwa subway stations at the time. Great location. I also like the area between Shinchon and HongDae area for housing - very quiet, but so close to the action as well. |

Anybody here have any luck scoring a PUBLIC school job in the Shinchon/Hongdae immediate vicinity? I imagine those postions are highly sought after...
I also agree that its a great place to live but most of the of the hagwons in the area, like Pagoda, YBM, Direct English, etc all have pretty shitty conditions (long hours and low pay).
There's also some new one that just opened up next to Hyundai Department store called Wall Street School or something. Anybody know anything about that new scam..*cough*...I mean institute of English Education? I imagined the conditions offered don't differ too drastically from Pag-f@g and his friends. (i.e. 2.0 for night of the living dead 14 hour spilt shifts just so one can claim they have the esteemed "privilege" of teaching adults full-time) |
