OK so I've been here in Korea for about 7 months, and I'm settling in nicely. I've come to the point where I'm semi-interested in starting to date. But... I am not particularly interested in dating Korean or Nigerian guys. Ethnically I have no problems, it's just culturally there are a lot of things I don't want to have to deal with. Most of my female friends here date Korean guys and *always* run in to the same problems 1 to 3 months in to it.

OK getting around to my question; is there a website or something around where westerners can hook up? I'm not particularly interested in the bar scene when it comes to dating.

I'm not a big fan of internet dating but I'm not one for the 'meat market' either.

My advice is that you get involved in a club of some sort, plenty of single guys out there if you know where to look.

Okcupid is a good one, and its free. I've met more than a few interesting people there. The thing about that site is that it is not entirely about hooking up, but rather about...well, whatever you want it to be.
Anyway, though I recognize the club idea, I have to diagreee. If you go out to the clubs that people recomend you may end up with a quick hookup, or the like, but thats not what it appears that you want. Besides, many of the guys trolling the clubs are looking for Korean girls. I reccomend the internet, OR posting a "get together" thread here on Dave's. Typically, with one of those about 30 people will promise to show up, and maybe 10 will, but hey! you may get lucky. One final idea, make a thread (like this one) and say specifically what you want. Then, allow the guys to PM you with introductions. From there, pick two or 3 to go out with, and...well, you've seen singled out so you know how this works.
Just another helpful tip from your friendly neighborhood zombie.

how did you meet guys back home?
All the girlfriends i've had have either been through girls i've met through friends, at coffee shops or at bars.
All it takes is an exchange of numbers and a promise to meet up to hang out.

I was talking about this with someone at a bar last night. The only place to meet foreigners at night is at bars.
We need some good foreigner coffeeshops.

Not true. Plenty of clubs/functions to attend where you can meet interesting people if you know where to look.

Starbucks is a great place to approach people. It has proven to be successful for me in the past. Its a good environment to have a talk without shouting over music . And the coffee kicks ass.
