I've been using an air mattress for a bed. It's great. It's light (so I can prop it up against the wall if I want to open up some space), comfortable, and collapsable (and thus easily portable).
I'd like to buy a second one because I'd like to stack them up one on top of the other, in an effort to make a kind of sofa.
I bought mine at E-Mart, but they don't carry them anymore (the summer's over, so the camping season is gone, too). Carrefour has stopped selling them, too.
Does anyone know where I can buy an air mattress? |

Thanks, tzechuk, you're sweet. It'd be more convenient if I could buy one at Lotte Mart or CostCo (does anyone know anything?), but now (thanks to you) I have a solid last resort. This is why you're piling on the nominations in the "Who is the kindest Dave's poster?" thread. |

| I have never heard of an air mattress that didn't spring a leak within the first couple of uses. What brand is this? |

It's the green one on the far left, three rows down. Three spots to the right is the same mattress, with a device for inflating it. The brand name is something like "Kovea."

I've been using it for a couple of months so far and no problems yet (knock on wood). It's made for camping but, as I've hinted at before, I've been using it at home as a bed. I need to re-inflate it a bit every so often, but aside from that, it's been great. |

Are there any places in seoul to buy regular mattresses?
Add to that, comfy ones?
Also, is it true korean towels and sheets are un-comfy? any other personal items in that category that should be brought from the us? |

Department stores, supermarkets and bedding stores all sell mattresses.
Towels are not bad. Sheets are not your regular, thin cotton sheets but padded. I like them in the winter because they are soooo snuggly. In the summer they get a bit hot and I would switch to my thin sheets. |

I have one stashed away somewhere which I think is the same as Troll Bait has. Navy blue, a plastic/rubber underside and sort of a velour topside, an electric inflator which will fill the mattress in about a minute or two, and two small matching pillows.
I haven't used it much myself. It's on hand for huge post-party sleepovers, and I used it a few times when I slept on my roof. I don't expect it will spring a serious leak, though I think it probably should be topped up after a night's use.
These air mattresses were advertised non-stop on Korean home-shopping channels a few years ago, and they'd always show a fantastically large truck -- like the size of a small house -- driving over the inflated mattresses to demonstrate their incredible durability. |
