Hi, I'm looking for imput on the idea that we should be negotiating and writing our own contracts with the schools where we work.
Things I think we should be negotiating on are
1) Working Hours as opposed to teaching hours
2) Choice of Law/Choice of Forum clauses (to allow you to sue the school or recruiter internationally if need be).
3) Letter of Release Clause, such as:
THE EMPLOYER shall provide EMPLOYEE, before work commences, an undated letter of release in English and Korean, detailed in the appendix to this agreement. The letter of release shall remain in the possession of the EMPLOYEE for the duration of the term of this agreement.
Basicially, if they try to screw you, you fill in the dates and walk.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? |

I already have 1 and something similar to 3. My contract states my working hours and says that should I decide to quit, I give 30 days notice. If I give 30 days notice, I will get a Letter of Release. Isn't that already standard? |

I guess you could write your own and see if the employer agrees to it, or just negotiate the one offered, saying you want certain changes made. Many things are negotiable, but some not. |
