Those who have seen or used the camera have all signed Non Disclosure Agreements, so no-one is saying anything until the official Leica release date of midnight September 15th. |

Drool...$US 5000 - ah crap, I'd have to get a divorce to spend that kind of money on a camera right now. |

Superior glass. Quality and lets face it, the NAME and the image associated with it. What makes any luxury brand expensive? The quality for sure, Leica glass is probably the best in the world, but also the name associated with the brand: Gucci, Luis Vuitton, Rolex and Leica. |

you don't get any 'glass' for your 5k- it's the body only.
Leica's are supposed to be the most reliable rangefinders there are, never let you down in any situation, drop it from a plane into the path of a tank then pick it up and shoot.
Also the viewfinder is supposed to be very bright, and the shutter extremely quiet.
It's definitely a lot to do with the badge though. |

Ofcoiurse not but thats what leica is known for: the glass. And its because of the priviledge of buying fantastic and expensive Leica glass that you are paying a lot for the body. Overall Leica is superb quality stuff. lenses, body, the works. It also has an aura about it from the long tradition of being used by some of the legends of photography. |

hahaha...that was a good one. Leica is the elite. One of the last camera manufacturers that carries a sense of individualism.
I've got a panasonic lx1 and it's just as good as a leica clux2....but that's because it's THE EXACT SAME CAMERA. The Leica goes for an extra 500 bones tho..... |

Leica make some of the best Optics in the world- telescopes, binoculars, etc.
But not cameras.
Go for Canon or Nikon. Better, and for less. |

leica makes rangefinders, Canon and Nikon make SLR/DSLRs. A big difference. Leica cameras have been used extensively by legends who would know what a good camera is. |

I'd give anything for a Leica M7 35mm RF. I mentioned before in another thread a friend had one and lent it to me once. The most awesome piece of photographic equipment I've ever held, full stop. And yes, Leica glass is the best. Better than Canon L glass or Nikkor. |

This is one of the more ridiculous things I've read in quite some time. |
