I'm trying to get a Halloween party going at a club in Hongdae. Honestly I have no idea what I'm doing but I have an idea, a plan. Tonight I went to Hongdae and checked out the clubs. Found one for a reasonable price but he needs an answer soon. So my question to you, is this worth it? Here's what I have in mind.

I can't stand the clubs they have here, all hip hop and pop. What I really want is a gothic club and I figured Halloween would be the perfect excuse. So I'm talking about playing everything from KMFDM and My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult to The Cure and Depeche Mode. I have the music lined up. That's the easy part. I also have some decorations planned out although I'm not sure where to get things like black lights. Where does one get a black light in Korea?

I figured there would be two prices: one for those dressed in a costume and one for those not. I was thinking 20,000-25,000 for those not dressed and 10,000-15,000 for those done up. Is that reasonable?

Do you think any of this would fly? I'm trying to cater to foreigners since Koreans don't seem to know much about Halloween (some of the clubs thought tonight was Halloween when I was asking about it) but I'll market it to Koreans as well.

I do need someone to help me translate if this gets off the ground. I'm willing to pay a bit. I also would need some help setting the place up the night of and planning beforehand. Again, your time would compensated. If you are interested you can email me at [email protected].

Also some clubs are supposedly having Halloween parties on either the weekend before or the same night. I figured Halloween doesn't really happen here. Is that true? Is there going to be a lot of competition?

Any advice would be appreciated.

There are no goth clubs in this country. You could rent out one of many rock clubs and easily convert it. Here's a list of clubs who might sympathise:

Bass Room

Freebird

Geek Live House

Jammers

Slug.er

Soundholic

Spot

Ssamzie Space

WASP

As for what you can do at this party? I'd suggest inviting a lot of Korean girls and have a wet T-shirt contest. Be sure to take a lot of pictures.

I just posted a list of the smaller venues in Hongdae that are not pop or hip-hop.

I already have the club picked out (FF). They gave me a price and it seemed reasonable.

I know there are not hip hop clubs but I've been to both the last Sound Day and the last Club Day and was pretty disappointed, especially with Sound Day. The music was so bland. Plus I want gothic and believe me I've looked and there are not gothic venues or events in this city.

I thought you were looking for a smaller venue. FF would be a decent place for sure.

Make a flier. "Only Goth Halloween Party in Seoul" or something like that.

Kinda sounds like the 'Skunk Hell' crowd every weekend.
