Found this article on a Canadian website. Apparently these are available in Canada.

I like Tsingtao. I'm surprised they have it in Canada.

Which one do you like? Or are there ones not on this short list that you find better?

Singha is a pretty good malt beer too. Tsingtao has a distinct flavour I sometimes crave.

Why does Korea have such a poor selection of beer? It might have something to do with the American influence. Not knocking American beer--I know there are some good microbreweries--but Budweiser has had an averse effect on this country.

My theory is that they price the good imported beer double what the domestic beer costs simply to protect the domestically produced beer. Hite, Cass, O.B. are all cheap-tasting beers. The companies that make them must be making a mint in profits because they're so awful. Canadian beer, not wonderful by any means, is the same price, but is better than Korean beer by leaps and bounds.

A good question is WHY CAN'T KOREANS MAKE A DECENT BEER? If countries like Philippines and Thailand can do it, so can Korea.

My favorite Asian beer I've tried is Tiger Beer. That is Asian, isn't it? I couldn't get enough of it. Tsingtao is also pretty good. I don't mind the Japanese brands sold in Korea: Asahi and Sapporo.

I'm not sure I've had Singha. I've had San Miguel. Isn't that from Thailand? Maybe 2 or 3 times I had that one.

Not a big fan of the Japanese beers. Maybe because I haven't drunk it much.

We just got a lounge place where I live (small town) that has the imports. Other than that, I have to go to the nearest city which is about a 20-minute drive. Last bus is 9:15. If I went now, I'd have to take a 20,000 cab (and 20,000 back, but once I waited it out until morning to took the bus). Also have a Family Mart here that sells Bud (1850 NT) and Miller Genuine Draft (1700).

With Korean beer, it's probably better to mix it up. I find that I get tired of Cass and then the next time I'll have OB or Hite. Not great stuff.

Tsingtao's good. I drank that in my 2 years in Taiwan.

Some people tend to put Canadian beer down, but I think it's good. In the Maritimes anyway. When I lived in Quebec, I found myself drinking Blue Dry or Molson Dry. Fark. B.C. wasn't much better with Canadian being the big seller. Good microbrewery beer though like Granville Island. I compare Kokanee to Cass. I didn't like it when I was there.

Labatt 50 is bad.

I'm going to take that 20,000 taxi. Can't stand it any longer. Didn't drink last weekend. Climbing the walls is Smallville, Korea.

A lot of Canadian beer definitely sucks. Moosehead Pale Ale and Alexander Keiths are pretty good. Keiths is pretty special. I drank Alpine. It's received various opinions, but it's pretty good as far as I'm concerned. Some people think it's cacksucker's mouth wash. Not so sure about that though. I've tasted some pretty good Alpines in my time.

"Alpine. You gotta live here to get it." Only sold in PEI, NB, and NS.

I have no problem with major Canadian beers. Molson and Kokanee are both drinkable, moreso than Korean beers or the major US competitors. In the west we have Pilsner, which kicks more ass. We have a good selection of microbreweries too.

The thing about Japanese beer is the selection. All those brands that we can find here exist in such a higher quantity in Japan. Going to convenience stores there blow my mind. Asahi has like four different labels, each a different style of beer. A great selection of ambers, a great selection of darks, a great selection of blacks, and plenty of malts. You can get wasted and never have the same beer twice.

Anyone who didn't blow into Asia a second ago will tell you Singha is their second preference after fermented leper sh1te.

You're obviously not a fan of malt beer.

Hmmm..if it's not Murphy's or Guinness or Boddington's it's got to be Kirin or Yebisu( I repeat, Yebisu). And as for the selection in Japan(even in the vending machines--*massive, massive sigh*--) well, that's just advanced capitalism for you. [Please, someone, pick up on the allusion and make me sing and dance, dance, dance...]

And not to entirely mock certain earlier posters...comparing the Southeast Asian lagers to the Japanese ones...well, that's just silly. Not that I don't relish a sweating Singha in a sheath at Cheap Charlie's on a bi-annual basis...

What was it Norm said when he got the beer tester job at a brewery? "Taste it?"

If you are from Ontario, you can go to the LCBO and get just about any popular beer you can think about from around the world. Funny thing is, it's about the same price as Canadian beer. Every beer I have seen in Korea, we could get in Ontario, except for the Korean beers. Look at a can of Sapporo next time you go into a convenience store, it's brewed in Guelph, Ontario.

If you live in Canada you can't complain about beer. In ontario you can always easily access 400 different kinds of beer at any moment (before 9PM that is Laughing ).

Wow, that's really expensive, even for a convenience store.
