I will go to a travel agent tomorrow to find out, but what's your initial thought - is it too late to book flights to London for the chuseok week?

Shouldn't be impossible.

The trick is to absolutely harrass the travel agent into checking every possible fare and availability combination.

There are well over 20 combinations possible between Seoul and London. I ususally walk in with a list of every possible route, then pick the absolute cheapest one they can dig up.

The Chinese carriers and other obscure carriers can often turn up surprisingly cheap fares - even at peak times like Chuseok.

SEOUL to LONDON possible routings:

(KE) Korean Air (nonstop)
(OZ) Asiana (nonstop)
(QR) Qatar Airways via Doha
(HY) Uzbekistan Airways via Tashkent
(SU) Aeroflot via Moscow
(EK) Emirates via Dubai
(TK) Turkish Airways via Istanbul
(MU) China Eastern via Shanghai
(CA) Air China via Beijing
(CX) Cathay Pacific via Hong Kong
(MH) Malaysia Airlines via Kuala Lumpur
(IR) Iran Air via Tehran
(KL) KLM via Amsterdam
(AF) Air France via Paris
(LH) Lufthansa via Frankfurt
(SQ) Singapore Airlines via Singapore
(TG) Thai Airways via Bangkok
(JL) Japan Airlines via Tokyo or Osaka
(NH) All Nippon via Tokyo
(BR) EVA Air via Taipei & Bangkok
(4L) Air Astana via Almaty
(AI) Air India via HKong & India
(OK) Czech Airways codeshare via Prague

I've decided to go for Christmas instead. Flying all that way there and back within a few days and spending all that money would be no less than a nightmare imo.

So, now what?? I need something to do in what might be my last Chuseok in Korea...

Is anyone at all thinking of Ulleungdo? I missed my chance to go in the summer, and would really love to go. I can't seem to get any info in Seoul as to whether boats'll be running over Chuseok. I would imagine they would have to provide year round transport for Ulleungdo locals to get to the mainland, right? (Weather excluding). The only other place that I would possibly consider is a beach like Donghae because it's on the rail line to Seoul. Is Donghae anything special? I can't swim, but if I could sit on a beach and watch wonderful sunset views without it having cost me much, I would be happy.

Any heads up for Donghae???

I've just noticed the Adventure Korea website has an Ulleungdo trip planned for Chuseok. Perhaps boats are running through?
