Has me really messed up...
I hit the sack at 8pm yesterday now I'm up at 4:30am and I'm going to go hiking our nearby mountain and take pictures of the sunrise before school.
It seems we suddenly went from really humid to really dry. I love the cooler weather, but I don't think I can make 8pm-4:30am a lifestyle change. Maybe it depends how the hike goes this morning.
Anyone else love Korea in the fall? I know it's not officially the fall, but it's here. |

| It has been officially fall for the last few weeks at least, I think. This is much more civilised weather. Feel better, sleep better etc. |

| It's still quite hot in the afternoon though. Yesterday evening wasn't exactly on the cool side either. |

In terms of Koreans thinking yeah. Though most I met don't make specific referral to the lunar calendar, just simply think: It's September, it's fall.
The equinox is on Sept. 23rd this year. That's when fall begins for those of us who use a solar calendar. |

| I was freezing last night! Put on two layers of clothes to go out after dark, and threw another blanket on the bed...er...yo. |

| I love it. I like walking but not sweating. I can sleep at night without waking up in a pool of sweat. Fall is my favorite season in Korea. |

Thank you.
I keep waiting for a hot streak to pop up for a few days, like it usually does. It wasn't this cool this early last year. I was still sweating at the beginning of October. |

I remember when I first got here, some Korean friends told me that no one swims outdoors after September first. At first, I thought this was a stupid arbitrary date to stop swimming outdoors, but each and every year since, I've noticed a drastic change in the weather in the first week of September, and this year is no exception.
I'll take this cooler weather over the nasty humid stickiness of summer any day, even if it usually induces sniffles, a sore throat and a cold. |

Yes, this is unseasonably cool and is so far the coldest september start in the last 30 years.....temps have so far been a good 4 or 5 degrees below average throughout the peninsula...
Don't know if this is just a cool spell or whether winter is going to come really early this year(I hope not)..... |

| Absolutely the best weather for kimchi jige. It could even have a light dusting of snow and it would still be perfect. This is kimchi jige weather. Yum. |

My Korean friends keep talking about the change in the weather, and how it causes their children to catch cold or fall ill. I've never heard that in other countries. How about you guys? Are you all suddenly sniffly?
Come to think of it, I was sneezing up a storm this morning, but I think it's just because of the dust that has gathered on my fall wardrobe. |

The weather has been unusual in fact.
Statistically, the entire month of September experiences daily highs of 25.8 C on average and 19.0 as daily/nightly lows on average.
That's summer weather, though milder and indeed less humid than the other summer months in Korea.
Septembers are warmer than Junes in Korea, both in terms of lows and highs: warmer. If June is a summer month then September is, regardless of what Koreans think their seasons are.

I still sleep with my windows wide open, here in the southernmost region of the peninsula. |

Yeah, I've heard that before. Heck, I've experienced it before. I have no idea the science behind it, but I'm much more likely to be sick when the weather changes than any other time.

No kidding! No humidity, no extreme heat, no yellow dust. I'm about to go dust off (and de-mold... again) my leather jacket. Woohoo!! |
