On Sunday, I developed a throbbing headache, so I looked for a pharmacy to buy some aspirin. I found one, but then remembered one of those things that I really don't understand about this country: Pharmacies are closed on Sundays.

Why are pharmacies closed on Sundays? What if you get sick then?

Anyway, the headache went away, and at a special "information festival" at Insa-dong, I got some free popcorn and shampoo. Not sure about the shampoo's quality, though. I think I'll use it to clean my bathroom tiles.

Yea, I'm a big consumer of aspirin, tylenol etc. Not only are many drug stores closed on Sundays, drug stores aren't open 24 hours, convenience stores don't sell them and you have to buy the pills 10 at a time. Dad sends me bottles of 200 plus pills when I ask. You can go to black market stores and get big bottles too.

I'm not sure (having had approximately 1 aspirin in my life has put them pretty far down on my things-I-notice list) but I think I've seen aspirin-like things for sale next to the condom machines in some public washrooms and in some of the vending machines just outside the public washrooms.

Pharmacies in big supermarkets are opened daily.

There are a few 24-hour pharmacies - often enar hospitals or clinics. There is certainly one in Itaewon across from that international clinic on the main drag by Hana Bank.
