I swear I need to replace my mp3 player headphones every 3 months. Now I use them daily and I'm always pulling them on and off and crushing them on the subway...
I don't recall this kind of headphone replacement rate in Toronto or Seattle.
The weak point always seems to be where the wire connects with the jack.
(I buy the actual earphones type not the ear bud phones as those hurt my ears.) |

Why don't you buy a set of bluetooth headphones?
It seems that you're maybe putting your gears to extensive use compared to what you did back in Canada.
What headphones are you using BTW? |

Save yourself time and effort by buying a DJ Pro-2000S by Stanton. I've never had a better pair of headphones in my life! They've been working for over three years, crystal clear sound, great bass... I too can't understand how people could ever use "earbuds"... totally rids the use of the MP3 format and sounds worse than a 1930s radio broadcast imo. These headphones cost me 100 dollars in Canada... but well worth it.

Firstly, different ears hear differently. So what you hear through your headphones will not be the same as what others would.
Having said that, earbuds concentrates on accuracy rather than soundstage (which you would get more of from listening to open/closed type headphones). This means that badly encoded mp3s will sound exactly that if the earbuds are any good.
Cheap headphones usually sound muddy, have excess bass and no highs. You would not be able to tell the difference between an MP3 or a CD recording. |

Cheap ones  Cheap Panasonics are better than cheap Sonys. |

That's a given...but what about walking in the park? (And I don't mean nature, where I'd want to listen to nature, but a Korean park filled with...Koreans.) |

Haha...how cheap is cheap?
Headphones here are not cheap BTW, and the korean brands are disappointing. Avoid them until I sample the higher ends Korlems. |

I honestly don't understand the angst towards people who listen to music when they are out and about. what's the big deal? why make such a stink? if anyone needs to grow up...  |

| I agree with you there. I take my music everywhere with me. However, music is a huge part of my life. Sometimes the subway rides can be entertaining but for thet most part I'm bored out of my mind. Music makes time go by quickly. |
