This is a BIG shot in the dark....but, i was wondering if anyone had any advice on getting some fingerprints and criminal checks from Korea to the FBI for an American citizen here (for his immigration application to Canada). What a *bleeping* headache! We just got fingerprints from our local police station here in Suwon, and apparently since they are in Korean, that'll be no good for the ole FBI. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Send an email explaining your situation to the U.S. embassy in Seoul - see what they say.

The short answer is no.
The long: I also begin the process of using the FBI for a criminal background check. Along the way I found out that the state police of my home state of Illinois could provide the check. In the end it was even easier. My school district accepted the results of an online background check service. It cost about 25 usd and was done in about 3 mins.

I would recommend that you check to see if the entity that is requiring a background check would accept a commercial version of the check done online, or one from your home state police. Either option would be a lot less cumbersome.
