Hello people:

I came across what I thought to be an unusual posting on a Korean ESL job site. As you'll read, it's a dude who's apparently wanting to sell his old job based out of Seoul. I'd like to get some of your opinions about whether or not you think its moral, legal, sensible, unsensible, etc. It follows:

"Hi, I am leaving Korea on Sept. 29th and I would like to sell my kickass schedule WHERE I DON'T EVEN BEGIN WORK UNTIL 2PM MOST DAYS and work for great people for only 2,000,000 obo...you will make that back in 2 weeks AND STILL MAKE 2,000,000 won the first month working only 26hrs...less than the 120/month 2.0 hagwon junk. I have worked for these 2 young ladies for the past 2 years and they are excellent caring people to work for and always pay on time...really the best...and they speak great English. The work is absolutely cake, at Yaksu you play a tape and go through a Superkids series book with a group of 4-5 well-behaved children and also have some one-on-one with kids that speak very well, just free conversation. At Maebong, it's free conversation with small classes of no more than 3 students and they have these Backpack series books where half of it is watching them color pictures...ridiculously easy...I will tell you more if your resume checks out and we meet. I also have a couple of privates mixed into my schedule...and a small homeschool on Wednesday evening, very small classes 2-3 students. Chungshin univ. station is 2 young girls, very nice and speak great. Also, before you read any further, the people I work for/teach have requested that the responsible and reliable replacement come from either Usa or Canada and can be either male or female.

Monday: Yaksu station 2pm-6pm=140,000won
Tuesday: Yaksu station 3pm-5:30pm=87,500won
Wednesday: Yaksu station 1pm-6:30pm=192,500
Yeoksam station 7pm-9pm=70,000
Thursday: Maebong station 1:30pm-8pm=227,500
Friday: Maebong station 2pm-4pm=70,000
Chungshin univ. station 5pm-6pm=50,000

Sunday afternoon or weekend day: Mike and Brian middle school brothers conversation=90,000 2hrs...flexible

In 4 weeks this schedule of less than 120hrs a month comes to over 3.7, but given the 3 extra days a month it usually comes to around 4.0

If you are interested please forward your resume to ***** or send a text message to ***** and I will get back to you...a degree isn't needed, but the Monday-Wednesday lady just wants to see the resume as I told her I'd find someone. The best thing about this is that this is a huge base to get started in really making some killer money in Korea...6.5-8.0 especially if you are just starting out. Add a kindergarten late morning and start with a morning business gig and bam! you are near or over 6,000,000 a month. With the jobs I had to give back to my brother I was seriously making over 7 million, with this being the meat and potatoes of my work.

I'd also like to introduce someone very reliable because I do care about the people I work for and the students I teach and I've not missed or cancelled a lesson for any reason in two years.

If I think the ladies I work for would like you, I will introduce you to them as my friend who is an excellent teacher and will be taking over in October. We can meet and workout details of the 2million won payment later. I think this is an amazing opportunity for someone who is stuck with some bad work or bad pay or for someone that is just fresh starting work in Korea. I honestly would have jumped at this opportunity in a flash had it been available 2 years ago when I first arrived...in fact, if for any reason I decide to come back, I will give the 2mil won back to you to immediately take over the schedule if you so decide. Besides this site? It was deleted from the buy/sell forum here.

It was discussed briefly in the Buy/Sell forum and here. Not very bright, IMO. If you're going to buy or sell privates, at least have the brains to do it in private.

Based upon his other posts, it's definitely shady. According to them he's only been here a couple of months and is still on a tourist visa.

This one for sale is not a diverse managed private clientel. It's not the op's program. The op is not introducing 30-40 private students that he has personally managed. (In which case for me I'd see worth in paying for that clientele.) Simply he is working for an employer, an agent. and seeks income as an introductions guy. Mmm...

(The fees (actually wages) are about 30-35K hour, which in a private sphere is pretty low. I would have to re-negotiate negating the op as a broker, taking him completely out of the picture.) But this is besides the point.

The agents themselves are taking cream from this one so payment would normally come from them as the op is in effect recruiting. But, because the op is actively seeking a non-credentialed tutor it's an abnormal and informal situation.

As I'm not in the situation where I would be in need of such a job I can't really decide whether it would represent a good deal or not. It's certainly bold of the op to devise and attempt it.

Anyone that sells a private is a loser. Ok, I'd probably put up a pint or two for you, but that's about it. Some of these people make 3 or 4 million a month, and they think they are wheelers and dealers. What a joke.

The first rule of business is, 'people rarely sell successful busineses'. What's wrong with this one?

Selling illegal stuff..brilliant!

Next someone will sell a big bag of weed on the internet and be surprised when cops show up to 'buy' it.
