My public elementary school just got a new principal. Since my contract is signed by the old principal, do we need to redo any paperwork or anything? Where do I find info. on this?
Thanks!!! |

My school is quite worried about this. It seems silly, I guess, but I can't come up with an official reason. Because I'm employed by the SCHOOL, not the principal, right? |

Why doesn't your school ring the labour board and ask them? Or you can do it they have English speaking operators. The number is: 1350
If your old Principal signed all your visa documentation then I would enquire just to make sure.

We just got a new principal also. i don't think you need a new contract but it would really vary from situation to situation.
I am not going to bother bringing the subject up cause I like my contract and don't want some new guy trying to change it in a negative way.
The lousy thing of this new guy is that he doesn't eat meat................bye bye are the bi-weekly galbi fests that we used to have, its going to be fish, fish and more fish. |

If you are at a PUBLIC school then your contract is with the office of education and the school or if it was under GEPIK, the POE (provincial office of education).
Changing your principal does NOT change your contract. He was just he signing officer (one of several who are allowed to sign a contract on half of the school or Office of education). Normal procedure in a large company or government office.

Most likely your contract is with your school. Is there a stamp or a signature on your contract. My school just got a new principal also, but the school stamped where signature specified. |

Good point. My contract was signed by the principal himself and not stamped by the school.
Check it our OP!

Yeah, I'm in a public school, but my contract was signed by the principal, not stamped. So I guess I'll call the labor board to find out. Thanks. |

Why does this not compute with SO many people?
I spent more than a week last spring trying to get my school to call Immi and find out the law about working at a second location. My school called other schools and the county office, but refused for days and days to call the only people with the official information.
In the end, 5 different people came over to say how surprised they were that a foreigner knew more about Korean labor law than they did. |

It's that simple and then you choose the English speaker option
Don't forget to have your ARC handy as they will ask you to punch in your ARC number.

Actually, you should call immigration, they are the ones who control what you must , can and cannot do.
But you can rest assured that if you are in a public school, you are OK until your ARC expires. |
