I'm sorry if this has been done before - I tried a quick search but couldn't find what I wanted. Plus, the Lonely Planet for Korea is not in the library and I'm hell broke.
So, here's what I will be considering when looking for a city to live in (I'm assuming that I'm about as likely to hit a good job in any city):
I'm not a huge fan of big cities. Yeah, I know the nightlife is probably better the bigger the city is, but I'll get over it. That said, I'd like somewhere with a few good places to get wasted ocassionally.
I am a huge fan of mountains / the outdoors in general. Yes, I've heard about the packs of hikers that roam the trails, but again, I'll get over it.
I am a huge fan of rockclimbing so, if there's like a major climbing area (like a Korean Yosemite or something) I'd like to be within easy reach of it.
So, any suggestions for cities I might want to look into more closely? |

Is this a poll ?
My choice would be downtown Seoul.
Mountains in every direction.
Weekends for travelling.
Never jones out over being in the sticks.

Yup. That's me. My brain gets so warm from all the heavy thinking I do that I have to cool it down with regular application of ice cold beer (beer is served cold in Korea, right? I'm not getting myself into some weird urine-warmth beer country am I?
Thanks for the suggestions people. Keep em coming.
edit - tried to fix the quote

Squaffy:
High altitude climbing? Unfortunately not. I've done low mountains but New Zealand is kind of close to the sea in general. I'd love to have a go at high altitude trekking at least.
Once I've paid off my student loan, my money's going towards a trip to either Nepal or the Canadian Rockies / Alaska. How hard is it to get a visa for Nepal?
Have fun.
I know this isn't related to where I want to live (unless I can get a job in Nepal.... hmmmm *rushes off to check out Nepal jobs*) |
