Which schools (hagwons) are best to apply to in the Seoul area? Is autumn a good time of year to do so? Also, what are their websites? |

I'm pretty open. Elementary to High School. But, I prefer to start at noon and later. No split shifts and weekends off. |

I've met a couple of people that work at a place downtown in Chongro called 'ChungMoon Language Institute'. They said it's a decent place to work, and that it's owned by one of the biggest publishing companies in Korea. Guess the managent is straight up, and one of the guys said he lives right downtown. No problems getting paid or the other hastles. I normally don't like institutes, but these people were the only hakwon workers I'd ever met that weren't pissed about their job. I checked, and they are hiring now, but I don't know about splits or anthing work-related.
My best advice would be to go straight for a public school job. Go hakwon only if you have to. Even a university institute is generally better. |

People are probably pretty unlikely to make any concrete recommendations because different people have different experiences at different places, and coming out too strongly in favour of one particular company or franchise is often viewed with suspicion.
Having said that, I've had good experiences with YBM, in that they are reliable, fair and generally well organised. ECC sounds like it would might suit you as long as you go with a branch in Seoul city - that is, directly managed by head office and not franchised. No doubt people will disagree with me on this though. Also, YBM pay is pretty terrible.
edit: terrible here meaning slightly below average, but with lower than average minimum hours, so with overtime making up the difference isn't that difficult |
