As we continue to look into moving to Korea with our son we have heard that kids begin preschool at age 2, which seems young to us. What is the real scoop? |

In Korea they have different 'preschools' for different ages.
A 'play room' for younger kids. These are usually smaller in size and are usually found in houses or apartments.
A 'children's house' (어린이집) usually much bigger for kids starting around 2 or 3. They have buses for pickup/dropoff, educational programs and often day trips. They are more professional in all aspects.
Last are the kindergartens. They are for kids aged 4 to 6. They are often connected with the elementary schools or as private schools.
This is just the very tip of the iceberg. I'm sure there are many others with kids who can supply much more detailed info. |
