Ok, I have applied to a few recruiters. How long does it typically take for them to reply back to you? Then, once that happens, how long does it take to get to Korea? |

Some will swarm like locusts, others will be so poorly organised that they won't reply at all. Some will tell you to be in Korea tomorrow, but to get a legal teaching visa you'll need 2-3 weeks. |

I hit return on the computer to send an application to a recruiter. 20 minutes later my phone was ringing. No exaggeration. |

If they actually have a job then they will usually call you ASAP.
Most recruiters however usually post a "standard job profile", then they collect a few resumes and then they will go out and try to sell them to a few hakwons. As soon as they can find a hakwon that likes your age and photo they will call you.
My advice is send your resume to as many recruiters as you can find. Sift through the CRAP that you will get sent and pick the few cherries from the list.
Then, when you show your interest and get to the contract stage, e-mail to several of the teachers and do your DUE DILLIGENCE and first hand research about the school.

It actually depends on the chances of your placement.
If there are schools on the recruiter's list that want a teacher like you, they will contact you immediatley. If there isn't a job matching your preferences you may not get contacted.
Unfortunately and it's sad but true, a recruiter can work out within a few seconds on whether you are employable or not through their agency.
Those whom the agency thinks are a good chance will get called and emailed and sent flowers. Those whom have little chance MAY get sent straight to the deleted items folder.
But to the OP I am not saying that you are one of the unemployables, maybe you are..I dunno nor care... it may just be that the agencies you have applied to have nothing that gets close to your needs.
The post that suggested you put your resume on Dave's was on the money. Get on that and you should be offered something quite quickly if you tickle someone's fancy.
If you still get nothing try posting your resume with this title.
WILL WORK ANYWHERE! |

I'd agree that the response is pretty much immediate. In the middle of the night is quite true, too. Some will tell you to just book a ticket and come over the next day, but remember, whatever you are told, you cannot start work until you have the E-2 visa in your passport. Never forget that.
Also, it seems that depending on what country you are coming from, you might have to allow for some time to get all your documentation together, especially the transcripts. Allow at least 1 month minimum from start to finish. 3 months to sift through for a decent job. |
