Anyone have one of these boxes hooked up at home and viewing successfully from here? Very interesting concept... really tempting.

There was a post about this a couple of months ago, but I still don't see the point of such an elaborate setup. All you need is:

1. A bittorrent client
2. A link to mininova...search EZTV
3. A pair of eyes and a clicking finger to download ANY TV torrent you want.

Man! I watch more TV here than I did back home. Commercial free, HDTV quality, in no time at all.

Only, you can't watch your (previously) local news or the YOURCITY Penguins hockey team, or the commercials for the local S-mart sale on canned sardines (shop smart...shop S-mart!)....Smile

Cheers, I'm off to watch EP1 of Survivor13!

I am a torrent freak already. Torrents are fine for the big shows... however, they don't really do the deed for sports (college and high school football / ESPN), local news, or national news. Would love to be able to set the TIVO at home to auto-record my weekly programs and then watch them when I want.

My big question is... If I have family members setup the slingbox in the States, does my laptop have to be setup "locally" before I can travel with it?... in other words, can they setup the slingbox to broadcast and I download the software here to connect...? Something I read on the website led me to believe that the computer had to physically connected to the network that the slingbox was attached to before you could travel with it.

Also, is the quality reasonable? It is reliable? Are you satisfied? Do you really use it?

Thx,

gdawg
