^ ^
so many questions have been bugging me...
so let me start with this one...
uhm, i'm in china right now, studying chinese and working as a part time english teacher... i'm from the philippines... i'll be in Korea after 3 weeks with a tourist visa (30 days)... tourist visas can be extended up to 90 days...right? so what would be the requirements for extension...?
me and my boyfriend (ofcourse he's a korean) are planning to get married... does anyone of you know the documents i'll be needing?
and one last thing... what's the possibility of me finding a teaching job there...?
thanks a lot |

Welcome! It's my first time seeing a Filipina on this forum. I'm not sure about the extension thing being guaranteed. Your fiance should be able to register you as a married couple when you get here. I've never heard of many documents being needed (but I'm single and inexperienced in that respect).
About work, an institute may hire you after you're married (and are legal to work), although I'm not sure how each director would view you. There are so many institutes here in Korea that your fiance should be able to help you with a connection of some sort. Korean hagwon (institute) teachers aren't paid much, so you'd have to be really good in some way to make a good salary. Good luck |

Once you are married, privates will be legal. You will have to start out lower than most native speakers charge (I know, it's not fair, even if you have better English than many here...) but after you build a base and reputation, you can probably start making some real money.
An institute would probably hire you too (atleast in Seoul) but they may ask you to pretend you are from America. Some Koreans I know who spent a lot of time in a Western country are asked not to be "Korean" so you may be asked not to be "Filipino" |
