My hagwon is giving practice exams this week. I picked one up to read the question. Here was an example dialogue.
Yumi: Do many British people know about Taekwondo?
Tony: Of course. There are many taekwondo centers in London, with lots of students.
Lisa: Many Americans know about taekwondo, too.
Tony: These days more and more foreigners are interested in Korea.
Lisa: I know. Many Koreans are interested in other countries, too.
Tony: I'll miss Korean food when I go back to England. But at least I can buy kimchi at the supermarket.
Yumi: Really? I didn't know that.
Lisa: I saw a Samulnori performance last week, and I liked it a lot.
Tony: Korea goes to the world, and the world comes to Korea.
How would you even respond to that last line? "Ahh.. yep, yep. So, anyway.. taekwondo, huh?"
It really reminds me of when people made a fuss back in the 90s about the SAT being racially biased so they added some reading passages about Native Americans and black people.
