Will I need to apply to my university for fresh transcripts, or will ones that are over a year old be ok?
I will be applying for an E2 visa in the Seoul area. |

It all depends on who in the immigration office is looking at them. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
I have found (from personal experience) that they tend to be harder and more strict on NEW visa applicants as compared to those who have been here and are just changing jobs.
Try it with what you have. If they decline it, you still have some time to get new ones.
If you are really cutting it tight, get your school to mail a new copy and then you will be safe for sure.
Sorry I can't give you a definative answer but there isn't one. For the record, my transcripts are 5 years old. I needed them for the uni I was applying to and brought lots of extras because you just never know.I have used them ever since. I have had 4 new visas since that time and they have never been refused. |

My friend (who has been here for quite a while) is in the process of changing jobs. She had three-year old transcripts (sealed) which were rejected by immigration last week (they opened them and saw the issue date). She was told to get new ones (less than three months old).
As ttompatz said, it could be just the particular officer, though. Does anyone have a different recent experience, or are they just cracking down in general? |

| Yes, the reports I've heard about the 3 month rule seem to depend on which immi office you go to. Get more copies if you can, as you don't want to be frustrated at the last hurdle. |

| Yeah, it must be luck of the draw. I applied last month for my first visa to Korea. My transcripts were more than 3 months old. The transcripts were accepted without problem or delay. |
