Found this odd listing at:
http://times.hankooki.com/service/jobsforforeigners.htm
I clicked on it (as I felt preeminently qualified) but it didn't resolve to a job posting. Weird.

Ah small update. I did a search in google and via google cache found the job ad:
| Quote: |
When schools call our office asking for a new foreign teacher, we always ask them "what kind of teacher are you looking for?"
More often than not, they reply "handsome teacher or beautiful teacher!"
So in an attempt of non-offensive humour we submit to you the following:
Below are 10 schools which care little about your looks but do want to know what is on your resume. Refreshing I know.
These, like all that I advertise here, are trusted clients and free from any horror stories you read about in the Korean ESL Industry.
I'm a foreign recruiter working for a Korean Consulting Agency and I think I know what you guys like and what you are wary of. Therefore I thoroughly check each school out. My receeding hairline does not need the stress of clients complaining so I reject many of the schools that contact me. These ones are those that I have come to trust. |

| Social commentary in a job add? That's a smart way to show they are open-minded. |

I hope the poster is not just politely rejecting these schools. I would hope that the poster explicitly explains in clear Korean why the school is being rejected. It might have a positive long-term affect by getting out the word that hiring people based on looks and youth is superficial and counter-productive, compared to hiring people based on qualifications and experience. |

Same deal I think should go for teachers who reject job offers from Berlitz after doing some research. I always urge people here to send a polite but firm explanation that they're turning down the job offer due to the low pay, no apartment bonus, the long hours, and their utterly tragic reputation in both Korea and all across Asia. |

well, advertising and marketing is all about getting noticed.
it doesnt matter if that notice actually pertains to the product/service itself as long as 'we' stop and listen/pay attention to it. in this case we all did, didnt we? |

I got one that is not at all similar, but funny, and may be known by some people on board.
In Pattaya, Thailand, years ago, on "Walking Street" there was a club that advertised something like "60 gorgeous girls and 2 ugly ones."
Maybe some people prefer the ugly ones?
Ever hear the Bob Dylan song, "I'm in love with the ugliest girl in the world?" It's a bit silly and strange.
The poster just above me must be right. I remember that because it seemed so strange, but actually it was probably clever advertising.
Naturally one would easily forget a sign outside a club that merely said, "Beautiful girls." We expect that. |

That's kind of an old joke. I've noticed strip bars in Seattle and Windsor both use that. "50 beautiful girls and 1 ugly one". I always thought this kind of sign invited harassment of the dancers. Like if the dancer didn't want to give some fat bastard a lap dance and/or give him a hand job, he'd quip "I guess you're the ugly one!" |

My only feeling is it makes you want to click on it but you enter the ad with some pretty negative emotions. The ad certainly is well written and smooths over any negatives. If you get through the ad. But then maybe there's something Darwinian. Good teachers can laugh crap off and stick with it. If you get through his ad, he probably wants to talk to you. |
