"I would like to mention that the cost of living in Busan is much cheaper just about half the price of Seoul, so you can save much money."

A recruiter sent me this. Is this true? I would think food would be about the same everywhere and an apartment is not my problem. -Jeff

The cost of eating out in Busan is about 70-80% of Seoul from my experience.

Supermarket prices are more or less the same

Housing is a good bit cheaper in Busan than most parts of Seoul but this may not be a factor for most hagwon jobs.

Transport is about 80-90% of the price of Seoul so not much difference there either.

PC bangs, DVD bangs and Norebangs are the same.

There is a big cost of living difference if you are Korean however because services, housing, parking and education are much more expensive in Seoul.

So he is lying but not lying at the same time.

I found the prices to be EXACTLY the same.. but Busan seems to actually have less to choose from when you buy anything..

Lived in Busan for a year, lived in Seoul for a year. Seoul is more expensive... but not by a massive amount. Cabs are the same price, however Seoul is so large that a cab ride 1/4 of the way across the city would be perhaps 10 000 won, where in Busan it would be 5000 won.

Seoul has some crazy expensive places in Seoul like Gangnam, 11 000 won for a beer?!? There are plenty of cheap palces like Sinchon that are great as well...

Overall Seoul and Busan are where you want to be. If you wanna be in Korea I say it's Seoul, Busan or nothing. I've always wondered how people made it in the sticks.
