A Korean person has told me that it is better to change your money now into US dollars and then change from US dollars to Baht in Thailand. I don't know if this is the best way to do it, but that's what I've been told.

Exchanging Won to USD then USD to another currency sounds like a great way to get hit with an exchange rate fee TWICE!

The best way is to take money out of an ATM in the country you are visiting. If you have currency already, exchange it once if possible.

I disagree, goto your bank here in Korea. When I went to China, my bank exchanged money for me and did not charge me a fee. I would just exchange it directly into baht. Right now the Thai baht is a little weaker because of the coup a couple of days ago. Make sure to take enough money and keep some for when you get to the airport because there is an airport departure fee in Thailand.

FYI I just got an email from the US Embassy. If you didn't you might want to go to the website and read it. Given the fact there was a coup, you should becareful during your trip.

Thailand just had a bloodless military coup. Do you really want to go there right now? Hopefully business will continue as usual, so if you still really want to go it would be best to change money in Korea. Nobody wants Korean Won outside of Korea. Unless you're changing huge amounts, I would just wait until I got to Incheon.
