Talking about jobs raises thorny grammar questions in English class I find. For me anyway - the students are as always happy to carry on in ignorant bliss.

Anyway, my take is that this is normal:

1. "You're a doctor? That's a good job."

But this is not:

2. "A doctor's a good job."

My question is does anyone think 2 is ok and, if not, what would be an acceptable substitute for 'A doctor' in 2 or 'That' in 1 (assuming there even is one)?

Help please!
