High School Teacher: Boys! This is an indignity. An outrage! Your hair is too long. How can you expect to get a proper education if you cant obey the rules? Dont you value your education?

50 High School Boys: Oh, please, sir. Were deeply sorry and remorseful.

High School Teacher: Boys, its 12:30. Go up on the roof and wait for the Vice Principal. Hell be up to scold you after lunch.

50 High School Boys: Oh, no sir! Please not that! Dont send us up on the roof on such a glorious fall day. We cant stand the fresh air and sunshine. Please, let us stay in those stuffy classrooms. Please, please, sir. We beg you!

High School Teacher: No, boys, Im sorry. My mind is made up. Up to the roof with you. And dont enjoy the free time and fresh air. Dont even think about sneaking back into class until after the Vice Principal chews you out.

50 High School Boys; Oh, woe is us.

45 minutes later

High School Vice Principal: Boys, you are a disgrace to Yeoju First High School, your parents and the entire nation of Korea. You must be punished! I hope your suffering teaches you a lesson.

You must leave school immediately on this gorgeous autumn day and not return until you have had your hair cut to regulation length. Let this be a lesson to you.

50 High School Boys: Oh sir, you are too too cruel.

On their way past me out the door, I distinctly heard tee hee, tee hee. Its now a quarter to 5 and not a one has returned.

Something tells me the Vice Principal has not quite grasped the concept of punishment.

(I entirely made up the 50 Boys dialog, but the Teacher/VP stuff was pretty much what was said.)

Same crap happens back home. do bad stuff...they suspend/expel you.

They should make them get on their hands and knees and scrub the halls with toothbrushes.

Anyways...what does the lenght of ones hair have to do with education? Sometimes older Koreans are fuktards.

I wish I was a bad teacher and I could have been "punished" that way.

The Japanese had this great punishment for workers who worked at job-for-life companies and seriously forked up. They were given a "window job". Basically a desk by a window and nothing to do. Ever. The shame was so much many of these men would kill themselves. This was pre-internet, of course. That punishment might be less harsh today. And I swear a dot.com I worked at I had a job just like that. It's amazing what kind of personal businesses you can run from a work desk wired over a T1.
