Im interested in getting a 125cc. I have however never bothered passing my drivers licence when i was in the Uk. I always lived in big cities. Can i drive a 125cc bike here legally? do i need to take some kind of lessons? if so where?
if i drive illegally am i likely to get into a lot of trouble?

cheers

You need a general operators license to ride a 125cc in Korea. Anything above that, you'll need a motorcycle license.

If you're starting from scratch, it can be a pain in the ass. You'll have to pass a written test (not bad), a physical exam (joke), take 3 hours of instruction, a course test, 10 hours of practice with a licensed driver, then the road test.

If your timing is good (most places only offer the 3 hour course in English once a month) you can get it done in about a week. Most of the DMV offices have English speaking staff on hand to help you schedule everything.

Can you drive a 125cc in Korea with only a car driving licence?

According to the officials at the Drivers License Examination office near the World Cup Stadium, yes.

However, if you would like to get insurance coverage on your bike, you should opt for the motorcycle operators license.

I think this was discussed last week...

...in reality, you do not need a drivers licence, plates on the back, helmet or anything besides your 125cc.

Don't be intimidated by all that DMV-paper work talk just above. Just buy a used one and go. Done.

And good luck when some guy driving a Benz smacks into you Rolling Eyes
