For all you fans of Top Gear, I just read this at IMDB:

Richard Hammond, the host of a popular BBC program titled Top Gear, was critically injured Wednesday as he attempted to drive a jet-powered car at a speed of 300 miles per hour on an airfield runway near York, England. The program had hired a private firm, Event Fire Services, to monitor Hammond's effort to set a new land speed record. In an interview with BBC News, Dave Ogden, a former firefighter who operates EFS, said that Hammond was on a third run when the car veered off the runway. "One of the parachutes had deployed but it went on to the grass and spun over and over before coming to a rest about 100 yards from us," he said. Following the crash it was reported that the show's production crew had expressed safety concerns about it and were preparing to meet with the producers Wednesday night to discuss their apprehension that a serious accident might occur.
