First of all...where are you leaving from?

I left from the U.S. and bought my ticket a week before I left and only spent $1200 through a travel agent. Online the rates were up to about $1500 at the time. Still suprisingly low considering I was looking last minute and summer is peak time for traveling to and from Korea.

The other teachers I worked with who left from Canada had the school travel agent arrange their ticket purchasing for them and I think they paid $1800 Canadian.

I recently looked and the prices for about a month from now are about $1000. I think anything up to $1500 is reasonable, but it is not peak season and you should be able to get something closer to $1000.

In July, I booked my flights for about $1350 the night before i was leaving. Somehow the internet site messed up and it was never confirmed, when i got to the counter the next morning there was no reservation for me.

I called Korean Air afterwards and was quoted $1450 for a nonstop Dallas -Seoul flight that left about 3 hrs later that day; went over to the ticket counter and bought it right there and then.

One of hte worst flights in my life: no entertainment system and they showed some bad movie, it was so boring i fell asleep.

my ticket was 1780 CAD but it is also a return airfare. Basically I can leave whenever I want during the course of the year.
But Korean Air for me didn't have individual tvs! I thought all airplanes basically had it now. Was just one big screen for everyone to watch no selection.
however, other people I have talked to got a much better plane than i did >.<

The most expensive ticket I have had was about 1.3 million won for a one-way to Orlando from Busan. The cheapest ticket I have had is when I paid $550 to go from Orlando to Busan. Both had stopovers in Tokyo and Minneapolis. I have seen round-trip tickets go for as low as $800 US (from the east coast of the US), but that was almost two years ago. Prices have gone up a bit.

I'm waiting for this to go international:

I got a ticket from Bangkok to Seoul (work 6 months) then on to LA, then back from LA to Bangkok (through Seoul). The price was $950. Pretty good since the ticket just from Seoul to LA was more than $1200 when bought in Seoul. I asked the Asiana agent in Bangkok why Bangkok to LA is cheaper than Seoul to LA, when the flight stops in Seoul anyway. She told me it is because Thai have lower incomes than Koreans. Keep your Airline "home" out of Seoul.

I bought my ticket 4 days before leaving at it was $732 -- one way. I was told by asiana and korean air that one tickets really dont change in price no matter how far in advance you buy them.

Wylies,

I think if you want relevant information here you need to say where you will or are flying from (city and country) as this will change the price drastically.

Sorry. I gave the link to the wrong article, and I couldn't find the one I saw. I was trying to provide the links to some new services. They look really useful, and they'll be much better when they add more cities to fly to. So far the only international destinations I see are to Canada and Puerto Rico (from the US, and I know PR is a territory Wink ). They should be going worldwide soon.

If everyone here requests that they add Seoul, we may see it added along with Tokyo in the future.
