Anybody out there buy any travel health insurance before heading out of the country? I tend not to buy it, but nowadays with suicide bombers and beeeeep going on, you never know.
There have been incidents in the so-called safe countries too, Tokyo, Japan (gas attack in subway), Daegu, Korea (fire set by crazy man in subway), Bali, Indonesia (hotel fire set by terrorists).
You can also get sick by a number of parasites.
Have you bought Korean or foreign travel insurance? |

Hey, I use to not bother with insurance either but thankfully the one time I did...I actually needed it because I got robbed down in Thailand. I just purchased it over the internet. I was worried if the claim would go through but I had no problems.
This is what I'm using for my holidays this month.

what happened in Thailand? How long did it take for you to make your claim? What was the experience - particularly on the insurance side and how they handled it? |

I was just looking at World Nomads .com and their policy says that you need to be a permanent resident of the country you're in. I wonder if we qualify with the E2 work visa? |

Sorry for the slow response. I just returned from vacation. Dev...even though I live in Korea, I consider Canada to be my permanent home. I sent my claim through my family's address in Canada. I didn't mention that I'm currently residing in Korea. Tiger Beer...not sure what you'd like to know. I was robbed on one of those overnight Kao San Road VIP buses heading south...all the passangers were. I just went to the police station to get a a police report. I was a little concerned because the report was written in Thai so I phoned the insurance office but they said it would be no problem. I also wrote a letter explaining the details of the robbery. I took several weeks for the claim to go through (can't remember exactly). The check was mailed to my family's address in Canada and my mother deposited it into my account for me. Easy. |
