when i was last visiting seoul i got 'talking' to some late twenties, early thirties guy in the lift on the way out of my hotel. a simple hi would have done, however:-

1. he told me his name, full name with surname.

2. stated his religion (wtf?!)

i'm thinking i've known this guy five seconds... what's next.....

3. where he was from.

america... right.....

4. the town he was from and street name.

lift has now reached ground floor... i head to the subway..... ah, boloxs, so is he.

5. 'but i don't class myself as american. i'm more of a free spirit'

'WHAT?!?' thinks i. bear in mind that i still haven't said a word apart from 'hi'!!!

6. states he is an anarchist and hates all forms of government.

'okaaaaayyyyy', thinks i. and i start looking for a way out of this still one sided conversation.

7. asks why i am in seoul.

i tell him i am on holiday. 'oh, boloxs, he is going to the same platform as me!'

8. 'pretty strange place for a holiday.'

i inform him i'm visiting my fiancee.

9. 'i hate koreans.'

'my fiancee is korean.'

10. then he rants for a couple of minutes about how messed up korea is and the people, especially the women. i gently try and remind him that my fiancee is korean. but he AIN'T listenin'!

i'm quite a placid guy but right at that moment i felt like pushing him under the subway.

11. rants a bit longer...

we both get on the train, he turns to look at me with a smile and rants some more. i wait for the siren to sound for doors closing and i hop back off the train thankfully never to see him again!

Waeguk weirdo story #487 and possibly amongst the best.

After number 4 in the conversation's sequence - possibly after number 2 if I'm in a bad mood - I'd have told him to fook right off, and that'd be being generous. Guy's a half-wit and his existence constitutes a stain on the Earth.

So I'm just wondering. What was his religion? Anarchists technically shouldn't have religion.

What hotel? I've found when you stay in nice hotels in Seoul, people in elevators and washrooms just start yapping with you.
