I didn't start this petition, but for everyone who is living in Korea who would like to watch NHL games on their computers it would help if you signed up. I borrowed the link from another site and the petition will be submitted in another week to the NHL. Thanks.

While I'm not a hockey fan, I very much doubt this will fly. For any sports league and/or team it's all about the revenues they get from broadcasts of their games.
Live streams would allow people to illegally record or rebroadcast a game without permission. That's one reason AFN Prime pulled the NFL games off their station. |

Well, the OHL Live Stream worked pretty well for me last season. I always wondered why the OHL could pull it off and not the NHL.
Anyway, the petition might at least let them know there is interest.
Obviously it is a paid service (for the person that said this will never fly because they only care about money). |

It worked out well for major league baseball too. It isn't free of course. Viewers would have to pay. Until then though, everyone should sign up to www.streamtvnow.com. It costs about 5$ a month and you can watch just about any game as well and put in special requests for the must-sees. |

Well in that case maybe it will fly, but it really depends how much they charge as to whether it would be worth it.
The only service (outside of paying for streaming)for the NFL is $250. I also use Streamtv and it's not bad. Personally I think price for the NFL games to watch them legally is highway robbery. I'd never pay that much. The second problem is the service is though Yahoo. My opinion is that all of the companies affilated with Yahoo are scum.
The MLB games are a much better deal in terms of the cost. Unfortunately I'm not a big baseball fan. |

I tried to click on the petition, and I could not get to the site for some reason. I don't know anything at all about Stream TV. What is that all about? Can you watch hockey, European soccer, and baseball?
Thanks... |

I work at the CBC, which broadcasts some of the games here in Canada. We pay $65 million dollars a year for this. On top of that, TSN pays $15 million, and RDS pays $12 million for various games.
The rumour is that CTV is going to bid $140 million for the rights when they come up in 2008. Over a ten year contract that's $1.4-billion.
I can't see the petition, but I suspect this is part of the reason streaming hasn't happened yet. |
